Itty Bitty News!!!!!!!!

I think I may actually be sad with this bit of news: Ben Affleck doesn't think that the role of Tom Buchanan in the remake film The Great Gatsby is a good one, so he's declining the offer made to him. I was sincerely looking forward to seeing him tackle on the role of the sexist millionaire philanderer. Affleck was offered the role in early April and director Baz Luhrmann rallied for him BIG. Scheduling just didn't work out due to Affleck's commitment to direct the 1979 Iran hostage crisis drama Argo which is shooting in the Middle East, which sounds AWESOME. Gatsby will, of course, film in Australia, Luhrmann's stomping grounds. Leonardo DiCaprio is pegged to play the wealthy and mysterious Jay Gatsby who still pines for his former flame Daisy Buchanan, which has me excited to see that it's going to be Carey Mulligan, whom I LOVE!!! Tobey Maguire is also set to join the production, along with fellow Aussie Isla Fisher who will play Myrtle, a married woman having an affair with the character role slated for Affleck.

Now THIS is newsworthy. City of God Director Fernando Meirelles is helming the new film, Onassis, a potentially controversial biopic of Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis and his relationship with the Kennedys. Meirelles is teaming up with God screenwriter BrĂ¡ulio Mantovani, and the story will apparently focus on Aristotle’s contentious relationship with Bobby Kennedy, the latter had Onassis' business practices investigated and barred him from trading within the United States. Evans asserts that the power struggle, which included a battle over access to Jackie O, got so heavy that Aristotle eventually allegedly helped finance the assassination of Bobby.

I know this may be itty bitty baby news, but it's rich in details, and that's what matters.
